Garage Door FAQs

If you're calling for the SERVICE or REPAIR of your garage door - be ready with Brand Name, MODEL #, Serial # of the door - and the garage door opener.

COMMON GARAGE DOOR PROBLEMS:

Door is heavy/hard to lift.
Springs have weakened. Tension can be added to the springs, but replacement of the springs may be a better option

Opener will only lift door a few inches (or not at all).
Broken spring. Springs are torsion type located on a shaft above the door, or they are extension type stretched out along the horizontal tracks on each side. Replace the spring. For safety reasons, we highly recommend replacing all springs on the door.

Door binds and jumps on the way up or down.
Broken or worn rollers. Replace the broken rollers and lubricate all rollers.

Door cannot move, track is visibly damaged.
Track damage. Replace the damaged track.

Bottom of wood door is rotting, joints broken or loose.
Lack of maintenance or direct damage to the bottom section. We can replace most door sections with a new one. This would include new weather-stripping on the bottom.

Door reverses on the way down and will not close.
Force adjustment on opener is set too light or door is binding. Check the operation of door for balance, smoothness of operation and adjust as needed.

You come home and find that your door is open. You are sure you closed it.
1. Same as door reversing (see above). 2. The opener is opening without a command. The opener receiver is not filtering signals. 1. See above. Adjust as needed. 2. Replace opener receiver.
